When we took a quick holiday to New Orleans, we stayed in the Ace Hotel NOLA. I absolutely loved the experience and because I took so many photos of this hotel, I figured it deserved its own post.

We stayed in a Large room, on the second floor of the hotel, located above Josephine Estelle. It was room number 214 (just in case you'd ever like to request it).

You'll see the guest suites are designed to be quite moody, strongly leaning towards a masculine aesthetic. Hardwoods, leathers and durable woven textiles are paired with polished cork flooring, dark walls and deco inspired furnishings and fixtures. Throughout the rest of the hotel, the palette of green is repeated. It feels luxurious, yet earthly in the main lounge area. I would say the green references both the nature of the city and the New Orleans climate, even in the winter it's quite warm and green. I think you could even make the stretch that the use of green references the sin of envy. I especially appreciated the subtle nuances that evoke the Voodoo culture that NOLA's history is so infamous for. At the hotel reception desk there is a glass case filled with voodoo talisman and amulets. Also seen throughout, are masks other accessories or objects to draw reference to voodoo history.
